Poll tracker: Labour and Tories lose ground in final full week before polling day
The last full week of campaigning saw the main two parties lose some support. Whilst Labour maintained their wide lead, they fell to 40.4% - 1.2% down on last week. The Conservatives are now on 20.4%, down 0.6%. The main beneficiaries of these losses were the Lib Dems and the Greens, who saw a boost in their polling numbers.
Interestingly, there was more movement this week compared to 7 days ago. Perhaps a sign that - despite some votes already being cast via postal voting - lots of people are still not entirely certain who they’re going to vote for. It’s also a sign that more people who responded to ‘don’t know’ on previous polls may be making up their minds as polling day draws ever closer.
Based on this weeks tracker, our seat projection predicts a 270-seat Labour majority, down from 292 last week. Compared to last week, Labour are on 460 seats (down 11), Tories on 76 (up 2), Lib Dems on 68 (up 8), SNP on 16 (up 1), Greens on 4 (no change), Plaid Cymru on 3 (no change), Reform on 3 (no change) and Independents on 1 (no change).
On Wednesday, we will be releasing our final prediction for the election result, complete with a constituency map to find out what we think the result will be in your area, so keep an eye out for that!
